Hiking around Bled

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for an easygoing stroll, this Alpine pearl is full of easy, as well as demanding hiking opportunities. We’ve gathered our favorites in one place.

One of the most popular trails is the path around Lake Bled, a 6-kilometer loop that provides breathtaking views of the lake and the iconic Bled Island all throughout the hike. See how breathtaking the scenery is?

You can spice up the loop by ascending to Bled Castle – it’s a perfect idea for all culture enthusiasts!

For those who crave a bit more of a challenge, the hike to Ojstrica is a perfect choice. This short but steep trail takes about 20-30 minutes and rewards you with one of the most famous panoramic views of Lake Bled and the Karavanke mountain range in the background. Hungry for more stunning vistas? Continue up to Mala and Velika Osojnica, another amazing viewpoint above Lake Bled. We’ve prepared a little video for you to find the trail easier:

Another must-see is the Vingar Gorge, a 1600-meter-long and up to 250-meter-deep canyon located on the eastern edge of the Triglav National Park. You’ll walk on wooden bridges, gaze at the shimmering waters beneath you, and marvel at the stunning Šum Waterfall. Fun fact – the Vintgar Gorge is the largest natural monument in Slovenia!

A perfect idea for a quick hike is the Rikli’s Path, a popular 30-minute hike that takes you up to Straža Hill. The trail was named after Arnold Rikli – a Swiss naturopath from the 19th century.

@charmingbled Straža Bled offers stunning views of Lake Bled, Bled Island, Bled Castle, and the Alps. Accessible via a hike or toboggan ride, it's a perfect spot for breathtaking scenery and photos.🏞️✨🍀🦋 #charmingbled #lakebled #slovenia #trip #view #summer #viewspot #strazabled #hiking #familytrip #foryoupage #fypツ #fyp ♬ intro x chorus the night we met - ourfeelings🪐

For a more demanding hike, we recommend trekking to Babji Zob. The top of this hill is truly unique – you’ll reach an interesting rock formation that offers spectacular views of Bled, accompanied by the far-off Karavanke peaks in the background.

Bled mountains: Reach new summits/Strive even higher

In addition to being one of Europe’s most stunning destinations, Bled is the ideal place to stay for those looking to hike the highest peaks of the Julian Alps and the Karavanke mountain range.

We recommend ascending Debela peč, one of Slovenia’s most accessible peaks over 2,000 meters. This hike is renowned for its magnificent views, including a stunning panorama of Slovenia’s highest mountain – Mount Triglav. For those ready to push their limits, the Triglav National Park offers many more demanding peaks – one of them is Viševnik.

If you’re looking for a hike in the Karavanke mountain range, we suggest you check Golica or Stol.
